Usage

Use this rcat template in any namespace.

• This redirect category (rcat) template populates Category:Country data redirects. Add this rcat to a redirect page in the following manner:

<syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext">

1. REDIRECT (target page name)

__EXPECTSHORTPAGE__

</syntaxhighlight>

Template {{Rcat shell}} is an alias for the Redirect category shell template, which may be used to add as many appropriate rcats as needed, usually from one to seven, along with their parameters, to a redirect. For more information see the documentation on its template page. This rcat may also tag a redirect individually:

<syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext">

1. REDIRECT (target page name)

• To a country data template: This is a redirect from an alias for that country data template. See Template:Country showdata § Redirect aliases for more information.

</syntaxhighlight>

This is in accord with instructions found at WP:REDCAT.

• Use this rcat to tag any redirect title that targets a country data template, such as {{Country data Turkey}}.
• Each redirect's sort key omits the leading "Country data" string. In those cases where the redirect is recognizably about a country or comparable geographical entity, the sort is analogical – for instance, Template:Country data Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Template:Country data SFR Yugoslavia and Template:Country data Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia are all filed under Yugoslavia. Variant spellings, on the other hand, are filed as they are – for instance, Template:Country data Euskadi is filed under Euskadi because not everybody will know this is the Basque name for Basque Country.
