Optional parameters

• attention – set <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" inline style="display: none;" />|attention=yes if the article needs immediate attention from experienced editors. Use only if another parameter does not cover the need for attention; this should be used sparingly. It is strongly encouraged to also add a section to the talk page explaining what needs attention.
  • This parameter populates Category:United Kingdom articles needing attention.
• class – This WikiProject follows Project-Independent Quality Assessment. Please add valid <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" inline style="display: none;" />|class= values to {{WikiProject banner shell}} instead of this WikiProject. Valid class values can be found at Wikipedia:Content assessment.
• importance – valid values are: top, high, mid, low, na (case-insensitive). See the importance scale for details. Setting an explicit value of NA is rarely necessary; for this, either leave <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" inline style="display: none;" />|importance= blank or omit the parameter.
• listas – This parameter, which is the equivalent of the DEFAULTSORT sortkey that should be placed on all biographical articles, is a sortkey for the article talk page (e.g. for Winston Churchill, use <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" inline style="display: none;" />|listas=Churchill, Winston so that the talk page will show up in the C's and not the W's of the various assessment and administrative categories). This is important because it is one source used by those who set DEFAULTSORT on the article; consider also setting the DEFAULTSORT for the article when setting this parameter.   If the article is using {{WikiProject banner shell}} then it is preferable to add <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" inline style="display: none;" />|listas= to that template instead of a project banner template. Putting the parameter on more than one template is not required.
• needs-infobox – set <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" inline style="display: none;" />|needs-infobox=yes if the article needs an infobox. Remember that infoboxes are not suitable for all articles, and can overwhelm short articles.
  • This parameter populates Category:United Kingdom articles needing infoboxes.

• needs-photo – set <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" inline style="display: none;" />|needs-photo=yes to request that an image or photograph be added to the page.
  • This parameter populates Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in the United Kingdom.
• politics – set <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" inline style="display: none;" />|politics=yes if the page is under the stewardship of WikiProject Politics of the United Kingdom.
  • politics-importance (only used if <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" inline style="display: none;" />|politics=yes is set; uses the same values as <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" inline style="display: none;" />|importance=) – Importance rating within this taskforce
    • This importance rating populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Politics of the United Kingdom articles by importance.
• unref – set <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" inline style="display: none;" />|unref=yes if the article lacks references.
  • This parameter populates Category:Unreferenced United Kingdom articles.
• auto – This parameter is for the use of bots and indicates that the article has been automatically rated:
  • <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" inline style="display: none;" />|auto=length – based on the length of the article
  • <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" inline style="display: none;" />|auto=inherit – because one or more other projects use this class
  • <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" inline style="display: none;" />|auto=yes (or <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" inline style="display: none;" />|auto=stub), in conjunction with <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" inline style="display: none;" />|class=stub – as Stub-Class because it uses a stub template
    • Use of the above values (or value combinations) with this parameter populates Category:Automatically assessed United Kingdom articles.
• category – set <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" inline style="display: none;" />|category=no if, and only if, a banner is being used for demonstration or testing purposes, to prevent unnecessary or undesirable categorization. Otherwise, omit this parameter.

Aliases

• The parameter <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" inline style="display: none;" />|Politics of the United Kingdom-importance= is recognised as an alias for <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" inline style="display: none;" />|politics-importance=. If both <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" inline style="display: none;" />|politics-importance= and <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" inline style="display: none;" />|Politics of the United Kingdom-importance= are present, <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" inline style="display: none;" />|Politics of the United Kingdom-importance= is ignored.

• The parameters <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" inline style="display: none;" />|needs-image=, <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" inline style="display: none;" />|image-needed=, <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" inline style="display: none;" />|photo-needed= and <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" inline style="display: none;" />|image-requested= are recognised as aliases for <syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext" inline style="display: none;" />|needs-photo=. Parameters with lower precedence are ignored.
